I am an assistant professor at the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies at Old Dominion University.
Over the past years, I have conducted research intersecting the field of learning sciences, instructional design, human-computer interaction, and education for international development, focusing on how to facilitate meaningful learning with advanced technologies. I am particularly interested in four research areas: (1) AI in Education, (2) learning and teaching analytics, (3) student-centered learning, and (4) technology for education and development. I believe that active interaction between teachers, peers, and technologies facilitates and enhances knowledge building and creation. Recently, a substantial portion of my work has been involved in human-AI interaction and collaboration in education.
My goal is to advance research on developing educationally meaningful AI, particularly in augmenting students' higher-order thinking, such as creativity and imagination, and critical thinking through student-AI interaction on diverse learning tasks and to realize the enormous promise of advanced learning technologies to help learners reach their full potential.
